Background
Novo Nordisk is one of the main developers and manufacturers of insuline pens in Europe. They have spent thousands of hours studying users and improving their products. In order to get new input for the research and development team, they conducted this cooperation project with master student from ITPD of Southern Denmark University.
Project Details
This project lasted for 3 weeks. And we formed into groups of 4 to work in a specific theme. My group aimed at developing new research method to analyze user videos, which are the main resources for the new product development in Novo Nordisk. And we focused on the context of usage.
How it works
The project starts with an introduction session from Novo Nordisk. Researchers introduced their current research methods and products as well as offering videos of users using insulin pens as materials for analysis. The current analysis method focuses on hands activities, which include the gestures, movement etc. And we believe that context information is also crucial for design team. So Context Analyzer is designed as an analysis tool to help researchers and designers to get understand the context that users use insulin pens. During the process, the biggest challenge is to avoid getting overwhelmed by the massive data and factors related to context.
